职称英语考试中当我们需要表达自己的吃惊，责备，意外等等要求或含义时，必须借助特定的情态动词及其常用句型，情态动词一般包括can、may、must、shall、would、need等词及其相应过去式形式，不同的情态动词仅仅变换一下时态，表达的含义可能就发生了变化。
几个情态动词常考的句型
1.may/might （just) as well“不妨，最好”，与had better相近。例如： Since the flight was cancelled,you might as well go by train.
